A very common fault we get with the Volkswagen & Audi keyless start systems are the start buttons packing up where as time goes on you have to push the start button harder and harder, DO NOT go to the dealers for replacement solutions as every customer of ours so far with this fault has been quoted well over $1000 (approx $1600!) only for the replacements to pack up again 3 or so years later!!
